this afternoon, i enjoyed a pile of nachos with recording artist fefe dobson. (well, we didn't exactly eat from the same pile of nachos, but we were in the same room, and that's close enough for me.)

perhaps you remember fefe from her song "take me away", or her milk ad:



if neither of those seem familiar, then just remember her because she and i have officially met now.

number one!

i've been so busy adding photos to my past entries that i haven't had time to go out and see the world lately. in the meantime, did you know that i am the number one result on google for bodhi blog....and the only bodhi who happens to be about four inches tall? i should celebrate.......or maybe just announce this achievement to the world.

in other news, i'm supposed to meet three more famous singers in the next couple of weeks. this is very exciting, and i should have the first pictures up by the weekend.

another brush with fame

ryan cabrera was in town for a brief visit with some wnok staff and listeners this afternoon. i used my connections to snag a picture with him (but no autograph, sadly).

i have returned safely from my trip up north.....just in time to possibly meet recording artist ryan cabrera this weekend. while i have a spare moment or two, i thought you might like to see a few photos from my trip:

dear duff,
i took your dad and kathie with me on a tour that featured a walk thru a rainforest. wow! those trees and the ground sure were mossy and have lots of ferns and mushrooms and neat places for me to explore. there were lots of salmon, so i could have stayed there and eaten very well. but i heard there were bears there, so i'll be coming home eventually.

after a long wait, i finally made it to new york. i'm so glad i'm not driving.

the next day (july 25th), we headed over to the land of maple syrup, maple ice cream, maple fudge, maple leaves, and maple candies- vermont. since the only way to get to vermont from maine is to drive through new hampshire, we tried to pick the most scenic route possible, which took us through both the white mountains and jefferson, nh- home of santa's village.

bodhi's first major concert

duff lured me away from the trip to ireland with promises of a celebrity encounter. however, this was as close as i got to the band.
you know what, though? it was worth it.

sunglasses? check. beverage? check. tiger? check.

since duff had to spend her birthday at work, i managed to talk her into a very brief zoo excursion. it rained cats and dogs before our visit, so i didn't have to elbow too many people out of the way to get a decent picture taken with one of the resident tigers.

to ireland! or not.

so there i was, rearranging my hawaiian shirts in my wee suitcase for the trip to ireland....and then the phone call came. it seems that instead of travelling across the pond with duff's mom, sister, and f-stop, i have to head back to south carolina for a possible photo opportunity with duran duran in a few days.

this morning, i googled myself, and it appears someone (besides duff) has linked to me. wow. (guess this means i'll have to start posting a little more often, huh?)

hello from maryland

as you can see, i've arrived in maryland and am relaxing with friends before the big trip to ireland. (hopefully i'll have time to blog about my western adventures before we head across the pond.)

i don't wanna be....

i've officially had my third celebrity encounter- this time with gavin degraw in kansas city (before mix 93.3's red, white, and boom concert.)

obviously, gavin's holding me.....the lovely lady on the other side of me is promotions guru (and my future fiancee) jamie harris.

go west, young gnomad

i'm pleased to report that my companion, packer, and i have returned from the wild, wild west. while we did not witness any gunfights or singing bands of the late 80s, we still managed to see a lot and have a good time doing so.

sadly, this was the only photoworthy item during our brief trip through iowa on june 16th:



as i mentioned, our stay in iowa was brief, and we soon came upon this sign:

we stopped at a park in kearney, nebraska, where we saw a waterfall,

and visited some relatives (sadly, no one was home).



on the 17th, we finally made it to wyoming.



we spent a couple of days in wyoming (for a high school reunion), then headed down to colorado on our way back to missouri.

yee-haw!

i'm about to join my new friend packer on a flight to missouri, then a road trip up to wyoming. duff's dad is attending his high school reunion, and said we could tag along. hopefully i'll be able to get some good pictures of the wild west.

i'm excited- maybe i'll manage to visit all 50 states this year, after all.

i just got back from a thrilling trip to north dakota with my friend keith. there were a bunch of boring meetings to sit through, but as a treat, he took me to a monument to the geographical center of north america.

my latest adventure

i know it has taken me a while to get back to this, but i've been one busy gnomad. first, there was the wedding, then the honeymoon in italy. then, a couple of weeks after my return, i was whisked away to arizona for a week of adventure. first, i went kayaking on the colorado river.
i also went on a few hikes, and visited the phoenix zoo, too.

for me, the high point of my trip was meeting my second famous person, author laurie notaro.

next up: a quick hike this afternoon- assuming i have time after i pack for my trip to north dakota. (i'm leaving with duff's "adoptive" dad tomorrow afternoon.)

south of the border

during our recent trip to arizona, my companions asked if i wanted to see mexico. in retrospect, maybe i should have said, "no".

we were already in tucson for the day, so the hourlong drive down to nogales was not a big deal. i was surprised that we weren't stopped at the border, like we were when we went to canada, but we drove right into mexico without so much as a wave from their border patrol. that alone should have raised a huge red flag.

we drove less than a mile into nogales, took some pictures, and turned around to join the long line of cars waiting to get into the u.s.

our return to the u.s. did not go so smoothly. first, there was the 45 minute wait in line to get across the border. as we waited, mexicans walked between the cars, offering to wash our windows and sell us random paintings, sequined disney princess pictures, food, balloons, other mexicans.....(well, maybe not the last one)

by the time we got to the actual border, we were hot and tired of being hounded. the customs agent we dealt with was not pleasant at all. he couldn't understand why we didn't park our car and walk across (like everyone else apparantly does), and sent us over to the car-searching area. twenty minutes later, satisfied that we weren't smuggling anything (or anyone) across the border, we were allowed to leave.
